Our Story

Founded on Central Avenue by Ronald David Spivack and Earl Reynolds Waters, David Reynolds Jewelry & Coin has been serving Saint Petersburg for over 50 years. Quality, integrity, and competitive pricing were the founding principles of our company in 1971, and continue to hold through to this very day.

In the 1980s—while taking an art elective jewelry class in high school—Shane Socash first heard the name David Reynolds. It was introduced simply as the trusted place to buy precious metals for class projects. As he continued studying jewelry design in Pinellas County, the message was consistent: if you were doing anything with precious metals, David Reynolds was the place you could trust. And during his first eight years working locally as a jeweler, he witnessed other local jewelry stores rely on David Reynolds Jewelry & Coin to buy and sell precious metals, jewelry, and estate pieces. The name kept surfacing, not just through advertising, but through colleague and industry respect.

In 2000, Earl and Ron invited Shane to join the company as its first full-service jeweler. Over the next 12 years, he expanded the jewelry design and repair department into a four-person team while earning his Graduate Gemologist credential from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA).

In 2012, founders Earl and Ron retired and entrusted the business to Shane. Today, the company continues to grow, now boasting 16 employees, while maintaining the same foundation it was built on decades ago: expertise, integrity, and long-term relationships within the St. Petersburg community.

For over 50 years, we’ve put our values into action.
